Welcome to Serenity Yarn’s blog, I am Amanda. So just a little bit about myself I am never without my knitting. It is my passion and part of my identity. I have a very sweet and talkative 7-year-old, Madelyn who wishes she was the same age as me. I love and admire her and feel so blessed that she loves and admires me too.

I taught myself how to knit almost 3 years ago. I thought scarves would be great Christmas presents for my friends and family. Back then money was tight and I have a LARGE family and extended family. It was around Thanksgiving when I made my mom’s scarf first. It took me two weeks! The scarf had so many holes and it was wider in some areas and slimmer in others. I used a gushy cream acrylic and nylon blend, I can’t remember what brand but I did buy it at Walmart so it was probably Red Heart. I also bought that Teach Yourself How to Knit kit. It came with a set of Size 8, 7inch needles. They were my favorite for a long time.

On Christmas Eve I was late getting to my parent’s house to exchange presents because I was still working away on my youngest brother’s scarf. My mom was so angry I was two hours late! They did like the scarves but were more annoyed that I made them wait. Moral of the story, never make people wait for gifts, it just makes them crabby.

Ok so now that you have a more than brief look into my life I will tell you what is on my needles. I am making a modified version of Lion Brands Dusty Night Scarf. I just made a few adjustments. I am also using Lion Brands Dusty Blue LB Collection Wool Stainless Steel. This yarn if very fine, finer than I expected. It does shapes well. I have enjoyed knitting with it. I do suggestion stiletto tipped needles when using this yarn.

I also bought LB Collection Wool Stainless Steel Cerise but I plan to add beads. Please if you have a nice lace pattern that will look good with beads please send it my way. Some sort of shawl for evening wear is what I have in mind. Come this November I will be going to Wicked with my loving boyfriend my two closest friends and their husbands. The cocktail dress I plan to wear is black and needs a nice shawl. I would love your ideas.

Well readers I think I have typed enough. I look forward to writing again. If you do have a comment or suggestions you would like share or a pattern you can send them to blog@serenityyarn.com

Happy Knitting!
Amanda,
Serenity Yarn
